Appearance: Slayde is not only handsome and a genuine ladies'man in appearance, he’s also very strong and muscular, hairyaround his pectorals. His muscles aren’t huge in any way,but his body IS well-built. Mostly in the arms in the chest. His feathers are a shade darker than white, and his eyes area dazzling aquamarine blue. His hair is dark raven black, likeCalandra’s, which almost touches his shoulders. His bangsare slightly spiked downwards, with three large pieces downwards;two at the side of his left eye, and one between his eyes. Twosmaller bangs just touch his eyebrows, and one strand of hairflexes upwards. He keeps his hair tied back in a low ponytail. His appearance doesn’t go unflawed either. His chest hasvarious scars, from years of being upon the battlefield. He alsohas a horizontal cut along his beak, and from the back of hisneck to the back of his waist, Slayde has a long, narrow scar. His hair, whether tied or not, hides the scar as long as he hisclothed.
Weapons: Slayde has been a fencer before the days of the SaurianInvasion, so he uses a shrinkable made of silver. Included isa blue shield, engraved with an Allicorn(a winged unicorn), thesymbol of the Drakeler’s coat of arms. He also uses a spaceaged blaster, attached to his right leg, and the occasional knife. He also practiced acroetics as well as his younger sister, Calandra. And...unlike most of the ducks from Puckworld, Slayde possessesstrange powers; powers which he wasn’t born with. He hasthe ability to control the minds of others, as long as they’renot stupid. The dumber they are, the harder it is. He is alsoable to make anything float into his hands; a telepathic power.
Attire: No matter what Slayde wears, his muscles always showthrough. His fighting attire is a sleeveless light blue V-neck full body-suit, strapped in silver lining, with a white sleevelessV-shaped turtleneck underneath. His left arm has one silver armband,for holding his rapier when it’s not in use. His armletsare the same the ones on Duke’s left arm, except they arelight blue colored, and also have razor-sharp spikes on them. They are v-shaped near the elbows, trimmed in silver around thev pattern and around his wrists. His left wrist has a blue sapphirebuilt on on the front, which activates his shield. He also wearsa silver belt, and gray colored boots that touch his knees, foldedover. He also wears dark silver ankle bands.
For everyday, Slayde’s attire is a white v-neck muscletank and semi-tight blue jeans, which allow women to see his musclesbulging out. Or fancy gray pants, a white shirt, and a gray long-sleevedjacket pushed up to his elbows.
Personality: Slayde seems to look like a ladies’ man,since he has the ability to charm women by his wooing Russianaccent, muscular physique, and charms. But he is not the ladies’man people would think him to be. He has slept with one, andonly one woman: his late wife, Layla Icewing. He likes to flirtwith women, but he would never kiss or sleep with one. Slaydeis a man of honor, never breaking a promise to anyone unless itdetermined that person’s life. He is a man one could trustwith his life, always there to defend someone to the end, evenif it meant risking his own. He’s also a blood-thirsty fighterwhen he fights, obsessed with winning and being a glory hound. He is a bit egotistical, and stays aloof from the female race. When he fights, he’s cold, heartless, and ruthless. Healso loathes doing housework, like all people who’ve grownup living the luxurious, pampered life.
History: Slayde is the eighth of nine children in his family,being
older than Calandra by three years. Unlike his sister,he loved
living the rich and fancy life. Being waited on handand foot,
wearing fancy clothes, and eating elegant dinners everynight he
cherished, and never wanted to give up. He also lovedmoney and
all types of rare and valuable jewels in his old life. Slayde
was a cad in his school days, always stalking youngergirls from
Calandra’s private finishing school. Even thoughhe was the
smartest of his classes, he usually played hooky andplayed around
the marketplace of Unistan.
Slayde and Calandra shared the best brother/sister behavior anyparent
could ask for. Even though they had their occasional arguments,they
were still best friends. They could share each other ANYTHING,and
not worry if that person will spill their horrible secrets.Slayde
was the only one who was permitted to call Calandra ‘Callie-Locks’.
Even though Slayde had a pretty sheltered life, he also had hisshare
of hard times. When he was eight years old, friends ofhis from
his school forced him to challenge their stupid dares. One of
them was to walk along a thin wire ten feet above theground. Slayde
automatically took the dare, not thinking thathe would be injured.
However, he was wrong. He was about half-waydown the pole when
somehow he lost his balance and fell. He landedflat on his back,
nearly breaking his spine.
He was quickly sent to the hospital two seconds after his parents,Joseph
and Juletta, were informed about Slayde’s accident. At the
hospital Slayde was sent to, only two people at a timewere sent
in. After Joseph yelled at Slayde for doing a stupidstunt like
what he did and Juletta smothered him with her hugs,tears, and
kisses, Calandra was permitted to see him. Being onlyfive years
old then, Callie was still a bit frightened about seeingsomeone
who lost blood. Slayde, knowing that Callie was too youngto endure
his story about being laid up on the mat and drivenhere, made
sure to keep the details about his ride to the hospitalsmall.
He smiled, and assured her that he was going to be outof the infirmary
in no time flat.
However, when Slayde was seventeen, he received ANOTHER near-fatalinjury.
He was one of the two finalists in Unistan’s JuniorFencing
Competition. Slayde’s opponent in the finals wasCaine Richfeathers.
Caine had brown short cut brown hair anddark black eyes.
At first, it appeared that Slayde was about to win the competition.
He had Caine’s strength worn down, due to his speed andcountless
hours practicing with his eight older brothers. Cainegrew desperate
to win the fencing duel, being a glory hound thesame as Slayde.
Reaching the peak of his desperation and fury,Caine jammed his
dueling saber into Slayde’s stomach. Theraven haired Russian
was quickly rushed to the hospital AGAIN,more concerned about
whether or not he won the competition thanwhether or not he would
survive.
When Slayde finally regain enough of his health to be able tospeak,
visitors were permitted to visit his infirmary room. Hismother
was weeping even more, while his father looked sorrowfuland sympathetic.
He became slightly enraged when Slayde askedif he won the duel
or not. Unfortunately for Caine, he was disqualifiedfor nearly
killing him, the victory granted to Slayde. AfterJoseph was able
to drag his weeping wife away form her severelyinjured son, Calandra
stepped in to be able to see if her favoriteolder brother would
live. Slayde assured Callie he WOULD liveto see another day.
Slayde was about twenty years old when he learned of Calandra’sarranged
engagement to Kirtland Quackson. He despised the verylibidious,
sex-driven pampered son of Moscalovsan’s mayor. He knew Kirtland
could never be a worthy husband to ANYONE, SAVEhis own baby sister,
even if his own LIFE depended on it. Hetried over and over to
talk his father out of marrying Calandraoff to a man she barely
knew. But it was of no use. Her fatherwas to stubborn to break
the seal on the marriage contract hesigned with Carlton Quackson,
Kirtland’s father. Slaydebecame Calandra’s only comfort
through the entire time shebecame Kirtland’s fiancé,
besides her Arabian Stallion,Spirit. Slayde knew his Callie-locks
would be miserable for therest of her life if she married Kirtland.
The morning of Calandra’s wedding, Slayde was the firstto
discover her ‘body’ coated with blood. He screamedbloody
murder, awakening up everyone in Drakeler Manor. It wasthen that
the entire household discovered Calandra was dead....orso they
thought. Juletta screamed and cried at the same time,while Joseph
wept silently next to Callie’s arm. Slayde,enraged, took
his anger out on Kirtland. It took all eight ofthe Drakeler men
to pull Slayde back, who had managed to throwa few slugs onto
his face. Even though Slayde was still upsetover Calandra’s
death, he believed that, deep down, it wasall for the best. At
least now she wouldn’t have to sufferthe rest of her life
as Kirtland’s little woman, where shewould’ve been melancholy
for the rest of her life.
Slayde was tending to the horses the day of the Invasion. Whenhe
went to Spirit’s empty stable, he assumed that Spiritran
away, or was taken away by the one who murdered her, who hesuspected
was Duke L’Orange. When he finally left the horsestable,
he heard gun blasts heading towards Unistan. Before hecould blink,
laser blasts from Saurian ships attacked DrakelerManor, capturing
everyone who lived in the mansion and destroyedthe villa, and
it’s 900 year old history.
Slayde and his older brothers tried to fight off the hunter droneswith
their fencing specialties, but they were greatly out numbered.
There was no way nine men could fight an army’s worth ofhunter
drones, with two Saurian soldiers as well. Slayde hadjust been
able to kill one of the Saurian soldiers that triedto massacre
his mother. Before he could try to kill the secondSaurian warrior
when two drones managed to hold him back. Justwhen Slayde believed
his family’s situation couldn’tget any worse, the drones
and the surviving Saurian were givenorders to stop by Wraith;
to prepare for the arrival of Draguanus. The Drakelers were frightened
at the very site of the Saurianwarlord, but not as much as Slayde
was. Draguanus took advantageof Slayde’s fear by bringing
one of his massively long yellowfingernails at the bottom of his
chin.
Without warning, Draguanus slashed his nail across his beak,blood
coming out of his wound. His mother demanded that his injurybe
treated immediately, but Draguanus only sneered at Juletta’srequest
and demanded that they be taken to the concentration campsimmediately.
When Draguanus conquered Puckworld, all of the citizens of theice
covered planet were put into working camps. However, someof the
prisoners were also selected to be part of Draguanus’sSaurian
scientists’ crazy methodical experiments. Draguanuswas hoping
to create a super army of invincible duck fighters,each one loyal
to him when he planned to conquer the entire universe. Slayde
was one of the slaves chosen to be part of these crazyexperiments.
The Saurian scientists that worked for Draguanus were tryingto
make a type of chemical that can give any of its possessorsunimaginable
powers, following by warping their brains so they’donly obey
those that commanded them. Slayde was given a typeof chemical
that gave him physic powers, labeled X376. With theantacid in
his bloodstream, the concentration camp scientistsbegan to perform
wild experiments on Slayde. Within a matterof months, Slayde was
able to control his new found powers.
Every week the scientists pushed him harder and harder to followtheir
commands. Their demands were more imperious because Slayde’sspirit
was starting to break, his heart tearing apart with everycry of
pain and scream of death he heard. The scientists didn’tcare
about Slayde’s inner suffering, for all that matteredto them
was their experiments.
Slayde could not stand their heartlessness any longer, and finallycracked,
used his new physic powers on one of the scientists,knocking them
out cold against one of the walls. However, theother scientist,
the one who GAVE Slayde his physic powers, wasnot going to go
down that easily. He was able to muster up enoughstrength to be
able to smash Slayde against the wall, his handupon his neck.
Just when the scientist flashed his nails outlike claws and was
about to slash his neck off, a sword was jammedinto the specialist’s
stomach, killing him instantly. WhenSlayde looked up at the one
who saved his life, he had quite ashock at what his savior looked
like.
His savior was a FEMALE! And a beautiful female, she appearedto
be. With her silvery-white feathers, she appeared to havecame
from the Highlands of Puckworld; the Scottish territory. Her jade
green eyes and waist length wavy ruby red hair madeher even more
attractive. He could guess by her attire that shewas part of the
resistance; of the first or second, he was notsure. Her fighting
attire was of a sleeveless black turtleneckfull body-suit with
a silver choker laced on top, with a emeraldin the center. Her
belt was of a silver color as well, alongwith silver knee high
boots. Her arms were complete with silverarm bands, each holding
a knife on each side, with small vialsof poison surrounding the
knives, and shoulder length black glovesunderneath the bands.
And last, but not least, she was completewith a thin black headband
on her forehead, complete with a beautifuljewel in the center.
The jewel was a heart shaped ruby insertedinside a larger golden
heart, with small plates of diamonds lacedinside of it, followed
by small ruby stones. Outside the goldenheart were smaller ruby
hearts, with emerald leaves and smallpear specks to complete the
design.
The female rescuer helped Slayde and millions of other prisonersin
the work camp escape, using her own powers: a physic powerthat
enabled the user to shove objects backwards and lift theminto
the air(it was like the Force used by the Jedi Knights fromSTAR
WARS). Apparently, she too was part of the scientific experimentsthe
Saurians put her through in another camp in the Scottish Highlands.
She tried to enter once more to free the rest, but the camp wasblown
up; obviously the work of the first resistance. Luckily,she received
word that the first resistance was able to free therest of the
prisoners before they blew the work campground.
Afterwards, the rescuer revealed herself to Slayde as Layla RubyIcewing,
member of the resistance from the Scottish Highlandsof Puckworld.
For the rest of the time Draguanus was on Puckworld,Slayde added
his efforts to the Scottish resistance, who wereknown as ‘The
Falcon Raiders’. Even though Canard’sStrike Force vanquished
Draguanus off the face of Puckworld, therewere still miniature
battles to be fought. The Falcon Raidersstole food from various
Saurian facilities, freed people thatwere still imprisoned, and
destroyed the Saurians’s suppliesof explosives. Finally,
after two years of fighting, the warwas enfin over. To celebrate,
the Falcon Raiders returned backto the Highlands to celebrate
their victory. Slayde was invitedto be the guest of honor, since
he helped to contribute to theFalcon Raiders victory and the freedom
of his people. Slaydeaccepted, thinking that his three surviving
brothers continuedon with their lives as well.
On that joyous night, everyone on the Highlands ate plentifuland
danced merrily to the music of their ancestors, celebratingtheir
freedom. Slayde, dressed in Scottish clothing to pleasethe Highlanders,
was given the honor of dancing with Layla onthat very night. While
he danced the Highlanders’s traditionaldances, the more he
felt himself becoming more and more captivatedto his red haired
rescuer. The more he stayed in the Highlands,the more he wanted
to be with Layla. It was obvious to him, evento himself, that
his emotions towards Layla weren’t out offascination, desire,
or a mere infatuation. Slayde Drakeler hadfallen in love with
Layla Icewing.
No one could blame the male Russian wooer for falling in lovewith
Layla. She was the most beautiful woman in the Highlands;possibly,
in all of Puckworld. Her hair was like fire in themorning, and
roses flickering in the candlelight at night. Hergreen eyes were
so radiant, that anyone would believe that a millionemeralds were
drained of their color and were poured into hereyes. Her feathers
were like cream hinted with the tiniest colorof silver. Every
movement she made excited Slayde, making himwant her beyond the
point of madness. He vowed to try to finda way to woo Layla, even
if it took the very life right out ofhim.
Slayde started out by doing little praises that would make anywoman
feel appreciated: surprising her with flowers, helping herto do
all of her chores(that was the hardest task for him, sincehe hated
housework), and other miniature surprises. One time,he even forged
her a brand new sword, made out of pure gold. But Layla only saw
his wooing has mere acts of friendship. Nonetheless,Slayde was
patient and continued to shower her with unexpectedpresents.
However, Layla soon fell in love with Slayde. Since then, therelationship
between Slayde and Layla hasn’t been the same. It was rare
to find the two apart from each other, and if theywere, it was
only for a few minutes. Anyone who lived near theHighlands had
known Slayde and Layla to be like Clementia MacFeatherand Drake
Ducaine(the Romeo and Juliet of Puckworld). After afew months
of being in love, Layla and Slayde couldn’t controlthemselves,
and decided to get married. Even though their weddingwas small
and simple on the count they had very little money,it was fancy
and elegant in the eyes of the Highlanders. A fewweeks after their
marriage, Layla became pregnant with Slayde’sfirst child.
Six months later(the pregnancy stage on Puckworld’ssix),
Layla gave birth to Slayde’s very first child; a daughter.
They gave her the name Ariel Dorothy Drakeler. Ariel was Juletta’smiddle
name, and Dorothy was the name of Layla’s grandmother.
Slayde and Layla had their hands full ever since Ariel was born.
When Ariel was four months old, she began to show strange abilities.
It turned out that Ariel was born with the power to create firesjust
by THINKING of them. Slayde and Layla had only the Sauriansto
blame for Ariel’s strange new powers. One, Ariel wastoo young
to control her new powers, and the Saurians were theones who injected
those dangerous chemicals into Slayde’sand Layla’s immune
systems, causing the strange new powersto be born into Ariel’s
DNA when Layla became pregnant. All the two parents could do was
keep an eye on her every minute,leave her with a baby-sitter when
they couldn’t, keep thefire alarms all over in the Highlands,
and keep fire extinguishershandy until Ariel learned how to control
her powers.
When Dorothy was about three years old, Slayde and Layla trainedDorothy
in the art of fighting and weaponry. While Slayde taughtDorothy
how to sword fight, Layla trained her in archery and TanShao,
the Scottish martial arts. Even though Slayde and Laylahad to
train Dorothy to control her fire powers, they’vebasically
lead a normal warrior life, even though no fightingwas done except
for an occasional hunting.
Until one day, a viscous attack was launched upon the Highlandswithout
any warning. Massive robots that were like the HunterDrones they
fought before, except more advanced. They not onlyhad more weaponry
upon them, they also were more well built andwere built with artificial
intelligence and extensive informationon their enemies, filing
their appearances into their a.i’s(artificialintelligences)
and using them for research on their targets, pin-pointingtheir
weaknesses. They were given the name ‘Megadrones’,for
they were more reliable than the Hunter Drones used by Draguanus.
They attacked the Highlands without warning, making it impossiblefor
the Highlanders to be able to defend themselves properly. The
only ones who were able to ward off the enemies attacks wereSlayde,
Layla, and Ariel.
Even though the battle was over, the attack was a no-win situation.
People were severly injured, some cottages were burned down,and
Layla was dead. Slayde sank into a deep depression, angryat the
drones for murdering his wife. He then realized that hehad to
find the source of where the Megadrones came from, andstop the
very source of their appearance. The Highlander warriorsvolunteered
to embark on the mission with Slayde, but he refused;he’d
only endanger their lives if they went with him. Theydidn’t
have the abilities to fight off a drone like the onesthat attacked
the Highlands. He was the only one who had thepower and experience
with the Saurians to fight off the new Megadrones. Ariel wanted
to go with her dad, but Slayde refused. She wastoo young to go
with him on a dangerous journey such as this one. But she still
kept on begging, knowing that he’ll run intotrouble along
the way.
Slayde agreed to take his daughter on his journey, but for adifferent
reason. Her powers were still in development, and therewas a risk
of her burning down the remains of the village in theHighlands,
even if she didn’t mean to do so. If he lefther in the Highlands
by herself, she would be a threat to thevillagers, for he was
the only one capable of controlling herpowers until she was older.
And if he stayed, he’d stillendanger their lives if more
Megadrones came to the Highlandsto make him pay for ruining their
first attack. So his mind wasmade up: the next dawn, he and Ariel
would leave the Highlandsin search for the source of the Megadrones
and cut their supply.
As they left the Highlands, they’ve faced many perils alongthe
way(too many to list; you’ll just have to read the intro.fic
to find out what). Along the way, Slayde found a female Himalanx(across
between a Himalayan and a Manx) feline, with three kittensfollowing
her; two male, and the last female. Ariel wanted totake the mother
cat and kittens with them, since it was obviousshe wanted a friend.
Slayde was about to reject, thinking they’djust get in the
way. But the mother cat was able to prove herselfworthy of being
in their group by hunting a large deer for them,so they’d
be able to have fresh venison for the night insteadof the wild
mushrooms and raspberries that grew along the pathsthey took.
So Slayde changed his mind and welcomed the mothercat into his
group, along with her three children, knowing thatAriel wanted
some friends, the mother shouldn’t leave behindher children,
and knowing they would be able to perform the sametasks as their
mother when they got older.
After nearly a year along the trails, eating off the paths theytook
and nearly sleepless nights, more Megadrones appeared atthem,
at attempts to destroy them. After Slayde and Ariel managedto
destroy them, they learned that they were getting close totheir
destination. They kept going the way they were going, facingoff
against more and more Megadrones as they continued on thepath
they took. Until at last, they reached an abandoned concentrationcamp,
that was blown up after the second Invasion of Puckworld. After
Slayde and Ariel dodged various security beams and moreMegadrones,
they approached the source of the Megadrones’screation bay.
An electric chamber was in the middle of the undergroundbase underneath
the ancient camp, where all of the Megadroneswere being created.
A male Saurian, with yellow scales and red blood-shot eyes, wasworking
away at one of his tables, obviously trying to come upwith another
evil invention either for his own purposes or forsomeone else
trying to continue where Draguanus left off. Slaydetold Ariel
to hide somewhere while he dealt with the scientistthat was responsible
for creating the drones that killed his lateand beloved wife.
However, before Slayde could even draw a breath,the scientist
attacked him full force, as if he knew he was therethe entire
time. The Saurian scientist threw aside his lab coat,with a midnight
black leather suit underneath and spiked black/goldarmor above
his leather. The two prepared themselves into a battlestance,
then prepared to fight for the death. Even though Slaydehad his
physic powers and fencing know-how, the scientist he foughtwas
much stronger than him. It seemed as though the scientistwas about
to slash Slayde’s throat off, until Ariel peakedout of nowhere
and used her fire powers to burn a hole in thecenter of his heart.
Before the scientist died, he enformed Slayde that he was alreadytoo
late; he sent an unrestrained amount of Megadrones and supply/powersource
to Draguanus, and he was going to use them to conquer aplanet
called ‘Earth’. And the drones were so powerful,that
not even the Strike Force would be able to defeat them. Slayde
was then determined to go to this planet ‘Earth’and
stop the Megadrone army before they harmed anymore innocentlives.
After nearly an hour of searching, he found a teleporterupon a
Megadrone he previously destroyed. After pressing in afew coordinates,
he and Ariel were teleported from Puckworld toEarth.
Good Points: Slayde is a rough fighter, and refuses to quit. He’s lean, strong, bold, and muscular, from years of body-building,fencing, and fighting. His powers enable him to control minds,soaking up any information he could need. And his physic skillsenable him to shove any target out of his sight. And, he’sa very talented singer. He’s also loyal to his late wife,Layla, refusing to have any kind of relations with another womanin fear of betraying her. And, like his younger sister, he cantranslate Russian AND French.
Bad Points: Slayde still believes that anywhere he lives ishis own castle, therefore, doesn’t see why he needs to doany work around any facility. His ego is pretty huge, alwaystalking about how unbeatable he is. Slayde gives new meaningto the phrase ‘He talks the talk, but he doesn’t walkthe walk.’ He says he’s the unbeatable, yet he canbarely defend himself against an army of Megadrones. And physicpowers aren’t perfect. He CAN sap information from others,but that depends upon the level of their intelligence. The dumberhis victims are, the harder it is for him to control their minds. And he’s very over-protective about his only daughter, Ariel.Slayde refuses to trust Duke, on the fact that he was a thief,and he nearly raped and killed his younger sister Calandra whenshe was younger. He’s also afraid to meet other women, infear of betraying Layla.
